Four UCLA math alumni returned to their alma mater to speak at this year's Career Week event, Trending Careers in Mathematics and Beyond, on Thursday, April 13, 2017. Over 120 undergraduate and graduate students from physical sciences had the opportunity to hear about the many diverse professions that can be pursued with their math education.
On the 2016 Putnam Mathematical Competition, the UCLA team (Emre Girgin, Xiaoyu Huang, Konstantin Miagkov) was ranked #7 out of 415 institutions.
The UCLA department of mathematics and IPAM hosted the 2017 AWM Research Symposium on April 8th and 9th. The symposium showcased the research of women in mathematical professions.
