Rickover Fellowship Program in Nuclear Engineering for the 2019-2020 Award Cycle

This program is designed to meet the needs of the Naval Reactors Division of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for appropriately trained personnel for the maintenance and development of science and engineering technology as it pertains to naval nuclear propulsion.  The program will assist in preparing students for roles in naval nuclear propulsion and will support the broader objective of advancing fission energy development through the research efforts of the fellows.

Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship

UCLA is among a select set of institutions administering the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellows program (MMUF). MMUF is a 2-year pro gram designed for outstanding students in Mellon-designated humani ties, arts, and social science fields who intend to pursue a PhD and a career in

In many research fields, interdisciplinary collaboration is becoming increasingly important. Complex questions often require multiple perspectives and skill sets. Outside of academia, many jobs require the same skills as successful interdisciplinary ventures: the ability to analyze problems from different perspectives, to work in a team, to communicate clearly with people from a wide range of backgrounds, and to manage multiple priorities. The earlier students start to hone these abilities in their careers, the more easily many will find it to develop these skills.
