UCLA Department of Economics Scholarship Applications for 2018-2019 Year

The Department of Economics is pleased to announce that applications for its 2018-2019 scholarships are now being accepted. The Department appreciates the generous contributions of our donors who made these scholarships possible. Scholarship amounts range from $1,500 – $5,000 each.  The donors have specified particular criteria for many of the awards, however the following information applies to all awards:

Rickover Fellowship Program in Nuclear Engineering for the 2019-2020 Award Cycle

This program is designed to meet the needs of the Naval Reactors Division of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for appropriately trained personnel for the maintenance and development of science and engineering technology as it pertains to naval nuclear propulsion.  The program will assist in preparing students for roles in naval nuclear propulsion and will support the broader objective of advancing fission energy development through the research efforts of the fellows.

Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship

UCLA is among a select set of institutions administering the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellows program (MMUF). MMUF is a 2-year pro gram designed for outstanding students in Mellon-designated humani ties, arts, and social science fields who intend to pursue a PhD and a career in
academia. The goal of the program is to diversify the professoriate and eradicate racial disparities in higher education. MMUF stu dents receive scholarship support and work closely with faculty advisors and graduate mentors to design and carry out an independent research project and
