Kurnitz Writing Award - $3,800 in Award Funds

Friday, March 9, 2018

The Dashew Center for International Students and Scholars (DCISS) is offering a great scholarship opportunity for international undergraduate and graduate students. A UCLA tradition for over 40 years, the award seeks to reward non-native English speakers for their ability to showcase their creative writing skills. Students are asked to submit original pieces, ranging from screenplays, novels, short stories, poetry and more. $3,800 in scholarship prizes (1st place: $2,500, 2nd place: $1,000 and 3rd place: $300) is allocated to be distributed between the three winners, so all international students interested in creative writing are encouraged to apply!

Applications are due on Friday, March 9th in person at the Dashew Center.

*Please note that applicants must be currently enrolled UCLA international degree seeking students or EAP students on the main campus, who have a non-immigrant visa and are eligible to receive monetary awards from a university. U.S. permanent residents, VGR's, certificate program, AB540, and UCLA Extension students are not eligible to participate in the contest as per the endowment's guidelines.
